Hatch & Hive was built by people who've bred, kept, and cared for poultry and bees for years. This platform exists because we saw what was missing and decided to do something about it.
CHAPTER ONE
A passion that never really stopped.
We've been dedicated poultry breeders for many years — the kind of breeders who care about bloodlines, take pride in their stock, and have always been part of the wider community. Showing, breeding, swapping notes at the gate. It gets into you.
In 2020, we made the decision to take a step back. Family came first, and the flock could wait. But a love of working with animals isn't something you can set aside quite so easily.
We channelled that passion into beekeeping — and into sharing it. For the next few years, we ran education sessions in schools and community groups across the Midlands, teaching about bees, pollination, and why none of it can be taken for granted. Rewarding work. It kept us connected to the things that matter.
CHAPTER TWO
Into the hive.
Beekeeping found us at just the right time. There's something grounding about working a hive — a rhythm to it that felt familiar after years of poultry keeping. Different in every way, the same at its heart.
We spent those years taking our knowledge into classrooms and community halls across the Midlands. Watching someone understand — really understand — why bees matter, why sustainable practice matters, why this isn't just a hobby but something worth protecting. That stays with you.
It also reminded us how much we missed being part of a community built around that shared passion. People who ask the right questions. People who get it.
CHAPTER THREE
Returning with fresh eyes.
Coming back to the poultry world after time away gave us a clearer view of what had changed — and what wasn't working. The community we'd always loved was making do with tools that weren't built for it.
Small breeders were being squeezed off mainstream selling platforms. Buyers were struggling to find quality stock from people they could trust. The connections that make this community brilliant were harder to make than ever.
The idea for Hatch & Hive had been forming for a while. Not just another classifieds site — a proper platform, built specifically for people in the poultry and beekeeping world. Somewhere the community could actually find each other.
We built it because we needed it too.
